An ultrasonic flow meter uses sound waves to determine the speed and amount of liquid flowing through a pipe. The frequency of the ultrasonic wave sent to a pipe and its reflections from the fluid are the same. If the fluid is flowing, the frequency of the reflected wave is different due to the droppler effect. As the fluid moves faster, the frequency shift increases linearly. Open channel ultrasonic flow meters are products that measure and record the instantaneous and total flow rate in a channel. This type of flow meters are non-contact products mounted on the channel to be measured. Since the product is contactless and has an IP68 protection class, it does not require maintenance and it is also not affected by rain.
